✦ Synopsis

The reactivity of (I) towards a number of binucleophilic amino compounds is explored. Particularly, treatment of (I) with (II) and ( IV) gives the 1-substituted compounds (III) and (V) in high yields by rearrangement of the purine ring. The route to compound (VI) is a valuable alternative to that reported for 1-amino derivatives of hypoxanthine nucleosides. -(
