✦ Synopsis

A method for the preparation of (n-4), (n-1)-alkadiynoic acids proceeds as follows: (n--4), (n--l)-Alkadiynols are synthesized by coupling the bis-Grignard derivatives of (n--1)-alkynols with propargyl tosylate and, subsequently, these alcohols are oxidized to (n--4), (n--1)-alkadiynoic acids. The structure of all compounds prepared are confirmed by infrared spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry.
