✦ Synopsis
Abstract
The essential oil of Nepeta racemosa (Lamiaceae) was prepared by hydrodistillation and was analysed by a combination of GC and GC–MS. Twenty‐four components were identified, constituting approximately 99.3% of the oil. The major constituents of essential oil were 4a__β__,7__α__,7a__β__‐nepetalactone (33.6%), 4a__α__,7__α__,7__aβ__‐nepetalactone (25.6%), 4a__α__,7__α__,7a__α__‐nepetalactone (24.4%) and 1,8‐cineole (9%). The composition of the essential oils of Nepeta ispahanica Boiss. and N. binaludensis Jamzad was investigated by means of GC, GC±MS and 1 H-NMR spectra of the main compounds. 1,8-Cineole was the most abundant component in both oils: Nepeta ispahanica (66%) and N. binaludensis (42%). However, nepetal
