The cross section for charge transfer in He+-He(2 3S) collisions is calculated using the asymptotic theory of ion-atom interactions, including the effects of polarization and momentum transfer. The results agree well with recent measurements by the meged beam technique.

Experimental results for the energy distributions of CO+ ions produced by chemi-ionisation of carbon monoxide are fitted using a simple mathematical model. The impact of helium and neon merastables is considered. In both cases the experimental distributions can be reproduced only if a two-step colli
A comparatively simple interpretation of the method of Firsov [Sov. Phys. JETP 21, 1001 (1951)] is used to calculate symmetric resonant charge transfer cross sections for the first 20 (nontransition) elements H through Ca in the range of low and intermediate collision velocities (ยฃ1.0 1 10 8 cm/s).
