The epoxy resin containing a typical mesogenic group such as biphenol was cured with catechol novolak and aromatic diamines which have neighboring active hydrogens. ✦ Synopsis
Abstract
A special model system based on a diglycidylester (1) and 4,4′‐diaminodiphenylmethane (2) was used to characterize the network structure of epoxy resins. Networks with cure degrees of 0,72 to 0,82 were prepared. These networks could be cleaved by hydrolysis after curing, and the network functionality and its distribution were characterized by chromatography. The results are in good agreement with predictions from branching theory, no indication of a deviation from statistics could be found.

## Abstract The curing of a mesomorphic epoxy has been studied by polarized light microscopy (PLM) and differential scanning calorimetry. PLM in combination with wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction proves the formation of a liquid crystalline (LC) structure. An advanced isoconversional method reveals that
