Keratinocyte growth factor (KGF) promotes epithelial growth and differentiation and has potent effects on the liver. The coinjection of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and D-galactosamine (GalN) results in hepatic failure in mice. Mechanistically, LPS-induced tumor necrosis factor (TNF) triggers hepatocyte
