✦ Synopsis


Ouabain binding was estimated in erythrocytes from 31 patients with trisomy 21 and 32 matched mentally handicapped controls. The ouabain binding of the control group decreased significantly with age, as expected, but this change did not occur in the Down's syndrome group. However, the ouabain binding of the younger (less than 40 years) Down's group was significantly lower than that of the younger controls and simply remained low in the older group.
