β¦ Synopsis
The microwave spectra of sym-CHa DCHO and sym_CHDaCHO have been measured. In the ground torsional state, the spectra correspond to localised conformers with only a small amount of sym-asym coupling. Apphcation of Watson's reduced haniltonia~ has enabled precise distortion constants free from internal rotation effects to be determmed. These constants have been compared with values calculated from the harmonic force field. An anomaly in the Q-branch, i(_r = 3 series of symCHz DCHO has also been observed.
