โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

A new mesophilic Trichoderma isolate produced cellulases during growth on water hyacinth. Optimum cultural conditions for maximum enzyme production were: water hyacinth 0.25%, NH~4~NO~3~ 0.2%, Tween 80.2%, 6 day cultivation at 28โ€“30 ยฐC. Partially purified cellulases from this organism displayed activity optima at pH 3โ€“4 and 50โ€“60 ยฐC. The enzymes were stable at pH 3โ€“6 and temperature upto 60 ยฐC. Fe^2+^ had the most stimulating effect on cellulases activities amongst many metal ions tested.

## Cellulase producing activity o f Trichoderma reesei OM9414 was examined under various agitation intensities and at the dissolved oxygen concentration above 3 ppm. The producing activity greatly depended upon the agitation intensity, and the dependence on the agitation was different for each cul
