โฆ Synopsis
The electrochemical behaviours of the three isomeric cyanopyridines have been studied in liquid ammonia by cyclic voltammetry and controlled potential coulometry. Reaction mechanismsare proposed on the basis of the observed electrochemical behaviour of products and the mass spectra of products produced by the alkylation of the eleetrogenerated organic anions. The kinetics of charge transfer reactions have been examined by interfacial impedance measurements and the rate of dimerisation of the radical anions of 3cyanopyridine evaluated.
