✦ Synopsis
In the polymeric title compound, {[Co(CHO~2~)~2~(C~12~H~8~N~2~)(H~2~O)]·H~2~O}~n~, the cobalt ion is coordinated by two N atoms from one chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligand, three formate O atoms and one water O atom, giving a cis-CoN~2~O~4~ octahedral geometry. Pairs of formate anions bridge the metal atoms into a chain. A network of O—H...O hydrogen bonds helps to establish the packing.
