✦ Synopsis

silica gel (n-hexane/ethyl acetate = 4:1) afforded 4 a in quantitative yield. Enantiomeric excess of the anti isomer was determined to be 98 % ee by HPLC on a chiral stationary phase (Daisel Chiralpak AD-H, n-hexane/2-propanol/EtOH = 90:4.5:5.5, flow rate 1.0 mL min À1 ).
