## Abstract Water enables the alkylation of aldehydes with trialkylboranes under nickel catalysis without the addition of a base. Trialkylboranes prepared from boraneβdimethyl sulfide and terminal olefins __via__ hydroboration as well as commercially available trialkylboranes could be employed for
