\(\mathrm{Fe}_{2} \mathrm{O}_{3}, \mathrm{Mn}_{2} \mathrm{O}_{3}\), and their mixtures are reduced by carbon in nitrogen. The product depends on manganese loading. A cohenite li \(\mathrm{c}_{3} \mathrm{C}\) type phase is stabilized by substituting manganese into the lattice. A single phase cohenite
