β¦ Synopsis
A thin-layer chromatographic analysis for carotenoids has been developed utilizing a two-adsorbent plate and two-dimensional development with different solvents, The method has been applied to the analysis of alfalfa and corn rneal extracts and mixtures of these two. Separation of lutein, zeaxanthin, violaxanthin, neoxanthin, and certain of their isomers, plus isolation of the mono-hydroxy carotenoids, individually or as a group, has been accomplished by this procedure.
