✦ Synopsis

Abstract

This paper describes the synthesis of a long‐chain fatty acyl ester of diphosphatidylglycerol. The properties of this compound were compared with those of natural cardiolipin isolated from ox‐heart. Although both substances display a very similar behaviour, they are not identical.

The chemical syntheses of I-0-palmitoyl-and 1-0acetyl-2,2-dirnethoxypropane-3-phosphate cyclohexylammonium salt and I-O-palmitoyl-2,2-dimethoxypropane-3-O-phosph,orylethanolamine are reported. The acyl dihydroxyacetone phosphates can serve as intermediates in the pathway for the biosynthesis of phos
