Cardiac Arrest and Jogging
Cardiac arrest related to jogging usually occurs in the setting of a structural cardiac abnormality. The patients often have no prodromal symptoms. Certain aspects of these cases, such as delayed entrance into the medical care system and exercise-induced lactic acidosis, make successful resuscitation difficult. We describe three such patients under the age of 36 who died after running.
