Abstract

The carbon kinetic isotope effect in the reaction of CH~4~ with OH has an experimentally measured value of 1.003. The measurement was performed using a static system in which the source of OH was the gasโ€phase photolysis of H~2~O~2~ with ultraviolet light produced by a highโ€pressure mercury arc lamp. Implications for the tropospheric cycle of CH~4~ are considered briefly.

## Abstract The highโ€pressure isotopic rate ratio __k__~H~/__k__~D~ for isomerisation of cyclopropylamine and cyclopropylamineโ€Nโ€__d__~2~ is 1.06 at 649โ€“678 K, supporting a mechanism which does not involve migration of hydrogen from the amine group in the rateโ€determining step.
