## Abstract The application of selective population inversion (SPI) to the assignment of ^13^C resonances and to the determination of the relative sign of ^13^C^1^H coupling constants is demonstrated for 1‐phenyl‐1,2‐dibromo‐2‐nitroethane. A negative sign for the geminal C‐2H‐1 coupling constant

Abstract
The ^1^H and ^13^C spectra of endo‐endo‐tetracyclo[6.1.1^3,6^.0^2,7^]dodec‐4‐en‐10‐ol have been interpreted using shift reagents and HETCOR experiments. Carbon chemical shifts are compared with tetracyclic analogs and bicyclic model compounds. Evidence for upfield δ and ε effects of 3–5 ppm is presented.

## Abstract Acylation of allyl alcohols induces strong carbon shifts, shielding γ and deshielding δ effects. These shifts are a consequence of through‐bond polarization of the olefinic carbons. Allyl ethers show similar, but milder perturbations. The olefinic carbon shifts reveal a strong concentra
