The sign of the scalar coupling between a carbonyl carbon and ˛-proton J(C 0 ,H ˛), for the cyclic dipeptide cyclo(Leu-Gly) was determined relative to that between an amide proton and ˛-proton 3 J(H N ,H ˛) by an E.COSYtype HSQC experiment. The pulse sequence used in this experiment gives a cross pe

Abstract
The application of selective population inversion (SPI) to the assignment of ^13^C resonances and to the determination of the relative sign of ^13^C^1^H coupling constants is demonstrated for 1‐phenyl‐1,2‐dibromo‐2‐nitroethane. A negative sign for the geminal C‐2H‐1 coupling constant has been determined from the ^13^C spectra. The relationship between SPI and TSI is discussed.

We propose the 13 C-detecting 1D DEPT long-range C-C relay to detect super long-range H-C connectivity via four bonds ( 1 H-13 C-X-X-13 C, X represents 12 C or heteronuclear). It is derived from the DEPT C-C relay which detects the H-C correlations via two bonds ( 1 H-13 C-13 C) by setting the delay
## Abstract Proton coupled ^13^C NMR spectra have been recorded for some acylphloroglucinol derivatives. Significant couplings over two, three and four bonds were observed between the hydroxyl proton and aromatic carbons for those compounds where the hydroxyl group is hydrogen bonded strongly enoug
