## Abstract The ^13^C chemical shift data of a series of ketone, alcohol and ester derivatives of D‐homoandrostane are reported. Homologation effects are discussed, as well as substituent effects on the homologated structures.

The assignments of 13C and 1H NMR spectra for madeirane triterpenes are reported. The assignments were made on the basis of two-dimensional homonuclear 1H, 1H (COSY) and of 1H detected 1H, 13C heteronuclear correlation (HMQC) and also from a series of one-dimensional selective INEPT experiments. 19

The =C chemical shifts of a series of isoflavones having hydroxy, acetoxy, methoxy and methylenedioxy substituents are compared. Some general relationships between substitution patterns and chemical shifts, useful for the identitication of naturally occurring isoflavones, are outlined.
