โฆ Synopsis
was designed to measure the language abilities of children and has been considered to be a measure of cognitive abilities (Carroll, 1972). The clinical model of the ITPA ) is composed of 12 subtests and is conceptualized in terms of channels (auditory-vocal and visual-motor), processes (reception, organization, and expression), and levels (representational and automatic).
The clinical model has received support at the representational level. Doughtie, Wakefield, Sampson, and Alston (in press) found that the placement of the representational-level subtests in factor space corresponded to the model of the ITPA for children from 4 years, 7 months of age to 10 years, 1 month. The arrangement of the automatic level subtests of the ITPA was not investigated because the authors of the ITPA ) considered the automatic level subtests
