Geometric design of shapes is a process of generating, analyzing and modifying free-form curves and surfaces that is driven by a variety of constraints typically related to the concrete area of design under consideration. Nevertheless, these constraints can be generically categorized as: β level, tolerance, confinement or distance constraints, β on-manifold constraints, β shape constraints (monotonicity, convexity), β area, volume or moments (integral) constraints, β fairness constraints (number of monotonic pieces, curvatures extrema), etc.
