✦ Synopsis
Starting from the formulation of Lindner and LiSwdin, a method is derived for c&Mating upper and lower bounds to the dispersion energies of atoms in their ground and excited states. Applications to hydrogen atomrare gas atom systems are presented.

A simple extension of a method by Calogero and Marchioro for constructing lower bound problems for ground states of systems of indistinguishable particles is applied to atomic systems. Their method is extended to yield an improved lower bound problem, which raises the ground-state estimate and yield
## Abstract An understanding at the atomic level of the driving forces of inhibitor binding to the protein plasmepsin (PM) II would be of interest to the development of drugs against malaria. To this end, three state of the art computational techniques to compute relative free energies—thermodynami
