Abstract
A novel evolutionary algorithm for broadband patch antenna design is presented. The differential evolution algorithm (DE) and the method of moments (MOM) are combined to achieve the optimum antenna satisfying a certain design criterion. The antenna geometric parameters are extracted to be optimized by DE, and a fitness function is evaluated by MOM simulations to represent the performance of each candidate design. A broadband patch antenna is designed using the optimizer. The optimized patch antenna is fabricated and measured to validate the robustness of the algorithm. The measured 38.6% bandwidth exhibits the prospect of the DE/MOM algorithm in practical patch antenna design. Β© 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A new method based on the differential evolution (DE) algorithm is proposed for antenna-array pattern synthesis with prescribed nulls. The array excitation amplitudes are the only controlling parameters, and the objectives are to synthesize array patterns with nulls imposed on directions of interfer
Collected f 0 results are shown in Figure 15. The center frequency varies with s/(s Ο© w g ) ratio around the theoretical value c 0 /(4h g ) Ο 1 GHz. However, it is noted that as the period length decreases (that is, (s Ο© w g )/ G decreases), f 0 depends less on the s/(s Ο© w g ) ratio. The dependence
