I reviewed the ®rst volume of this series for Flavour and Fragrance Journal, 8, 123 (1993) when many of the compounds discussed were related to those used as ¯avours or fragrances. Naturally the authors are specialists in their ®elds and demonstrate their expertise in wellpresented and particularly well-referenced reviews. The book is set in 10/12 pt Times and is printed on a good quality white paper, enabling those like me who are becoming rather short-sighted to still enjoy reading the many interesting and topical chapters.
