✦ Synopsis

The title compound, (C 17 H 21 N 2 ) 2 [Cu 2 I 4 ], consists of an organic cation, 4-[4-(dimethylamino)stryl]-1-ethylpyrdinium, and an inorganic anion, [Cu 2 I 4 ] 2À . The Cu(I) atom exhibits a trigonal coordination. The anions form discrete centrosymmetric dimers about inversion centers and are surrounded by the cations.
