✦ Synopsis

ÁC 7 H 4 O 6 S 2À , the ions are linked by six N-HÁ Á ÁO hydrogen bonds into layers parallel to the (100) plane. The adjacent layers are cross-linked into a double layer by C-HÁ Á ÁO hydrogen bonds.

In the crystal structure of the title compound, (C 5 H 7 N 2 ) 2 -[CoCl 4 ], the Co II ion is coordinated by four chloride ions. The Co atom lies on a crystallographic twofold rotation axis. The structure is stabilized by an extensive network of N-HÁ Á ÁCl hydrogen bonds.
