✦ Synopsis

In the title compound, [Ni(C~10~H~9~N~2~O~4~)~2~]·3H~2~O, the Ni^2+^ ion is octahedrally coordinated by carboxyl and acyl O atoms and azomethine N atoms of two tridentate 2-(2-hydroxybenzoylhydrazono)propionate ligands, each of which forms two five-membered chelate rings sharing the N—Ni bond. The occurrence of O—H...N and O—H...O hydrogen bonds between water molecules and ligands results in the formation of an intricate three-dimensional network which stabilizes the packing.
