Biomaterials is emerging as an identifiable intellectual field

of study. There are necessary preparatory studies to equip individuals to work within the field at various levels. The formal and informal instructional requirements are considered within the context of the academic program of the Department of Bioengineering at Clemson University, one of the first US university programs to focus on instruction and research in biomaterials.
