At least 2 species of the genus Crepidula (C. nummaria Gould and C. izivela Adarns) with flat, white shells are found on the coast of California. These are often designated as belonging to the subgenus Ianacus. Both of them are highly variable in size and shape in conformity with the substrates to which they are attached.
