✦ Synopsis
Abstract
By means of the high‐performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), three new cerebrosides (ceramide monohexosides), as‐trocerebroside A (8), B (10), and C (18), together with a known cerebroside, acanthacerebroside A (17), were isolated from a molecular species of cerebroside obtained from the less polar fraction of the chloroform/methanol extract of the starfish Astropecten latespinosus. On the basis of chemical and spectral evidences, their structures were determined. The structures of the nearly homogeneous cerebrosides, which appeared to be pure from HPLC and negative FAB mass spectrum, were also described.
