✦ Synopsis

Abstract

Eight antifoaming agents (AAs) were tested in lab‐scale sequencing batch reactors. Basic physico‐chemical (foam formation, hydrophobicity, scum index, surface charge, extracellular polymers concentration and composition) and biological parameters (floc structure, filament abundance and identification, sludge volume index) were determined. No stable or long‐term effect of AAs dosing on the biological foam occurrence was observed.
