Tribarium tetradecaphosphide-ammonia(1/18) Ba 3 P 14 ´18 NH 3 was prepared by the reduction of red phosphorus with a solution of Ba in liquid NH 3 . It contains heptaphosphanortricyclane anions P 7 3± , which are joined via P±Ba contacts resulting in 1 ∞ [Ba 2 (P 7 ) 2 ] 2± -chains separated by barium octaammine complexes Ba(NH 3 ) 8 2+ .
