Polarization curves for the anodic oxidation and cathodic reduction of Ni(OH), electrodes at constant current have been obtained, and also Tafel curves for the anodic process. A comparison is made between the electrochemical behaviour of freshly prepared and of recrystallized Ni(OH)2 layers, and the

β¦ Synopsis
Abstraet-The voltage depression phenomenon which occurs when beta-NiOOH electrodes are held on potential float for long periods, after being charged, has been investigated. It has been shown that the effect is mainly due to the formation of a low energy form of beta-NiOOH, rather than the formation of gamma-NiOOH, except when considerable overcharging occurs during a very high potential float.
