✦ Synopsis

Gravimetric Determination of Potassium as Potassium

Perchlorate.--J. P. MEHLIG of the Oregon State Agricultural College (Jour. Chem. Education, I927, 4, 1537-1543) recommends the gravimetric determination of potassium as potassium perchlorate. The method is very economical, very easily carried out, sufficiently accurate for all industrial analyses, gives good results in the hands of beginners, and may readily be applied to soils. The results compare very favorably with those obtained by the chloroplatinate method. Recovery of platinum is eliminated; and soils may be fused in silica crucibles.

## Abstract It has been suggested that macroalgal accumulations may impact on benthic nutrient cycling by promoting remineralization of sedimentary nutrients, otherwise inaccessible, and act as sinks/sources for dissolved nutrients in the water column. However, little consideration has been given t
