A Fourier transform mass spectrometry analysis of the ion/molecule reactions of small carbon cluster anions (C"-, n = 4-9) with hydrogen sulfide are reported. Carbon anions were produced from a partially graphitized petroleum coke. All the anions proved to be reactive towards H2S, different reaction

β¦ Synopsis
Abstract
Monoketones react with hydrogen sulfide in the presence of basic catalysts to give geminal dithiols or thioketones. Ξ²βDiketones are converted into monothiodiketones. Ξ±βDiketones can be selectively reduced by hydrogen sulfide in the cold in the presence of secondary or tertiary amines to give hydroxyβor monoβketones.
