## Abstract Azulene was deuterated by treatment in concentrated heavy phosphoric acid. The exchange reaction is shown to produce an azulene‐d~2~ of definite structure. From the spectra of this isotope it is concluded that its structure is very probably azulene‐d~2~‐(1,3).
