β¦ Synopsis
Autophagy is a very common phenomenon in eukaryotic cells. It not only regulates normal cellular physiology, controlling organsβ function and development, but also plays important roles in the pathogenesis of a wide range of human diseases. Benefiting from the rapid development of molecular biology and omic technology, the studies on autophagy are booming in the past decade. The entire pathway of autophagy is being unveiled, and its dys-regulation in diseases is attracting more and more attention from hundreds of labs all over the world. Considering the current situation in the study of autophagy, a book systematically summarizing the cutting-edge knowledge in this field is necessary, and our aim to edit this series of books is just to complete this task. This series of books is composed of 3 volumes. Volume 1 focuses on the biology of autophagy, including the characteristics of different types of autophagy, their biological processes, signal pathway regulation and biological functions. Volume 2 will thoroughly discuss the functions of autophagy in various diseases, such as neural diseases, cancers, cardiovascular diseases, immune diseases, infections, liver diseases, kidney diseases, endocrine diseases, respiratory diseases and blood disorders, and drug development. Volume 3 will introduce the methods and technologies in the study of autophagy, such as animal models, gene editing technology, imaging technology and tool drugs. All the chapters will be contributed by experts in this field. This series of books will serve as a critical reference tool for researchers and clinicians who are working on or interested in autophagy.
