The rates of cell attachment of the anchorage-dependent mammalian cell line Vero t o the gelatin-based macroporous microcarrier Cultispher-G were determined under various conditions. An optimal rate of attachment (0.98 x min-') occurred by an intermittent stirring regimen of 3 min stirring at 40 rpm

The attachment characteristics of the Vero cell line on microcarriers has been found to be influenced by the serum proteins. Significant quantities of serum proteins were found to be adsorbed on the carrier surface, which resulted in decreased exchange capacity and a lower attachment rate constant.

## Abstract The presence of fibronectin in three “malignant” (AU‐471, AU‐436, LT‐2) and two “benign” (BHK‐21, WI‐38) cell lines was demonstrated with a fluorescent antibody technique; two malignant (AU‐471, AU‐436) cell lines were fibronectin‐negative and one (LT‐2) retained fibronectin expression.
