Low-temperature magnetic force microscopy is used for the direct visualization of vortex distribution in high-temperature superconducting films. In order to investigate a surface effect on flux pinning, transport critical currents JΒ’ of Nb and YBa2Cu3Ov\_z thin films have been measured in magnetic fields B parallel to the surface. It is found that in both fihns the magnitude of Jc changes when tile direction of the Lorentz force is reversed.
