A new approach is described for obtaining absolute electron-impact cross sections for ionization, including the partial cross sections for multiple charge excitation and ion dissociation. The method benefits from the use of a supersonic molecular beam, pulsed ion source, and multichannel mass detect

β¦ Synopsis
Abstract
Partial ionization cross section experiments have been carried out recently at the University of Innsbruck for three types of hydrocarbons, i.e. acetylene, ethylene and propene. Cross section data fits are generated and compared to the compilation of earlier experimental data summarized in the online database HYDKIN [www.hydkin.de]. New data fits are brought into a suitable form to be incorporated into the database. In order to illuminate underlying dissociation mechanisms the energy dependence of branching ratios above energies of 20 β30 eV is reviewed in light of the present results (Β© 2011 WILEYβVCH Verlag GmbH & Co. tl. method is described for the measurement of absolute values of the total electron-impact excitation cross sections of argon io metastable states (3P). The method utilizes measurements of the ratio of the excitation to ionization cross sxtibn. Results are reported from 60 to 100 eV.
The partial singly differential cross sections (PSDCS) for the ions SO 2 , SO , (S ,O 2 ), and O resulting from the direct and dissociative ionization of the SO 2 molecule by the impact of 100 eV electrons, have been calculated employing a semi-empirical approach. Calculations have been made as a fu
