✦ Synopsis

The partial singly differential cross sections (PSDCS) for the ions SO 2 , SO , (S ,O 2 ), and O resulting from the direct and dissociative ionization of the SO 2 molecule by the impact of 100 eV electrons, have been calculated employing a semi-empirical approach. Calculations have been made as a function of energy loss (the sum of the secondary electron energy and the ionization threshold) suffered by the incident electrons. The integral of PSDCS in terms of partial ionization cross sections have also been calculated. No previous experimental data exists with which to make comparisons for PSDCS. A critical comparison of the calculated partial and total ionization cross sections with the experimental data revealed an agreement within the experimental error bars.

The formation of SF + , SF 2 + , SO + and SO 2 + fragment ions from dissociative ionization of the SO 2 F 2 molecule has been studied by means of a trochoidal electron velocity selector coupled to a mass spectrometer. The ionization efficiency curves of ions were measured and their appearance energi

Analytically useful pentafluoro ketone derivatives of fatty acids are described. The gas chromatographic/ mass spectrometric characteristics of these new derivatives are compared with those of methyl, trimethylsilyl and pentafluorobenzyl esters. Pentafluoro ketones exhibit excellent chromatographic
