✦ Synopsis

In the title compound, [Cu(C 10 H 8 N 2 ) 2 (H 2 O)](BF 4 ) 2 , the Cu II atom is coordinated by four N atoms and one O atom in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. The Cu-N bond lengths are in the range 1.982 (3)-2.124 (3) A ˚, while the Cu-O distance is 2.035 (4) A ˚. The structure is stabilized by O-HÁ Á ÁF hydrogen bonds between the Cu II complex and the tetrafluoridoborate anion. The F atoms of one anion are disordered over two positions; the site occupancy ratio is ca 3:2.
