β¦ Synopsis
This paper presents a field method suitable for studying the motion of conservative and non-conservative holonomic dynamical systems possessing finite numbers of degrees of freedom. It is shown that any complete solution of a quasi-linear partial differential equation of the first order can be used for finding the motion of the dynamical system without any additional integration. The method presented is combined with the two time scales asymptotic method in the study of weakly non-linear vibration problems. Several examples are analyzed in detail.
