The Helmholtz free energy of ionic solutions is calculated in the dressed-ion theory (DIT) using a Gibbs-Helmholtz relation. The obtained expression naturally takes into account the occurrence of a process of renormalization of charges and screening length in the bulk which is described by means of

β¦ Synopsis
Activity coefficients and thermodynamic association constants have been estimated for NaBr, NaCI, Nal, NaCIOJ, Bu,NBr, BuJNI, and BuJNC103 electrolytes in methanol by means of a tit of experimental data to theory using the unrestricted version of the mean spherical approximation. Realistic sizes for the solvated ions and for ion pairs have been determined. The thermodynamic association constants derived are compared with values obtained from conductance studies.
