โœฆ Synopsis

An optimization approach based on the diffential evolution strategy (DES) is applied to the design of frequency-selective surfaces (FSS). The spectral Galerkin method is used to analyze the electromagnetic scattering from a FSS screen while DES is used to tune the FSS unit-cell dimensions and dielectric properties in order to achieve the prescribed frequency responses. The DES is compared to the real-coded genetic algorithm. The simulated results of FSS dipole arrays are presented, which demonstrate that DES is a more simple, yet more efficient and more robust, method for the design of FSS.

Three-dimensional (3D) full-wave analysis and design of bandpass frequencyselective surfaces (FSSs) is presented. By using the unique features of a unit cell and the periodic boundary conditions, infinite FSSs can be simulated. Wave propagation through FSSs, which is otherwise difficult to quantify,

The properties of frequency-selectiue surfaces (FSS) exploited in antenna systems are well known. The purpose of this article is to report some experimental obsemations made on the focusing properties of FSS by tapering the lengths of the array elements. Chemosensors, small abiotic molecules that signal the presence of analytes, typically combine two components: a recognition site that binds the target substrate and a readout system that signals binding. [1] In the case of metal ion sensors the recognition site is a metal-chelating molecule designed
