β¦ Synopsis
Within the Chemical Processing Industry, there is an increasing demand for improved productivity, greater plant safety, and compliance with environmental regulations. This emphasizes the need to pursue advanced methods of sealing pumps that handle hazardous or toxic fluids. The following case-study outlines the application of dryrunning, non-contacting, gas lubricated seals to end suction centrifugal pumps. The work has been a collaboration between John Crane Inc, Morton Grove, IL, USA and a Midwest plastics manufacturer in the USA and has been adapted from a paper presented at Ro-con '93. The paper was prepared by Jeff Schiller and Doug Volden from John Crane Inc.
