โฆ Synopsis
Lectures focusing on seals include: โข Design and implementation of a mechanical seal improvement program at an oil refinery. A mechanical seal improvement program was conducted at an oil refinery in order to improve pump reliability and reduce environmental issues. The program organization, implementation and results will be discussed. โข Dual gas sealing technologyforpump~ Discussion will include research conducted to evaluate the technology of dual gas sealing for pumps and its advantages over conventional liquid lubricated sealing technology.
โข Design and testing of dual seal series arrangements
for pressurized barrierfluicL In this lecture, the design and test validation of two dual seal series (tandem) arrangements operating on pressurized barrier fluid will be described. Both designs, developed for pumps handling hydrogen fluoride, have been operating in refinery services since 1991.
โข Testing and field performance of a high duty NGL
pipeline seal An improved multiple seal design was developed for a critical high performance NGL pipeline application. Information will be presented on the seal design, development, and test data on a 40% ethane NGL mix. There will also be discussion groups on mechanical seals. Among the discussion topics are pusher seals and/ or metal bellows seals applications, rotating versus stationary seal designs, application of O-rings and packing and face materials and running combinations.
