The transient presence of interstitial carbons in the process of transformation of a coke into graphite is deduced from a study of radial distribution function. A peak corresponding to an abnormal interatomic C-C distance of 1.90 .& is observed for the samples heat-treated to 2050°C and to 2100°C. T
